The game's main objective is to collect as many stones in your "cauldron" as possible by shifting them from one hole to another. The game is won when one player collects more than 81 stones in their cauldron or when both players collect 81 stones each.

The game has some unique features such as the occurrence of "tuzdyk" when a hole has three stones, and "atsyz kalu" when all holes become empty. The game can last for four to five hours and is popular in Kazakhstan, where players without a game board can simply dig holes in the ground to play.
